According to the National Cancer Institute, cancers of the colon and rectum are the fourth most commonly diagnosed cancers in the United States, a tragic fact recognized by Congress when it designated National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Colon cancer surpasses both prostate and breast cancer in mortality, and is second only to lung cancer in numbers of cancer deaths.
The Colorectal Cancer Network (CCNetwork) was founded by two sisters-one of
whom was diagnosed with cancer-in 1999. CCNetwork provides a support network
for those stricken by the disease, their friends, families, and loved
ones. CCNetwork is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose goal it is
to "Inform, empower, and connect" individuals and communities that are
touched by colorectal cancer. CCNetwork embraces all abilities, experiences,
and differences to create a powerful, empowering, and nurturing network.
